Microsoft is gearing up to release the next Windows 11 feature update later this month, known as “Moment 5” or the “February 2024 Moment” for Windows 11. This update will have a slightly smaller scope compared to previous ones, with a primary focus on ensuring compliance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
Based on the information from my sources, the upcoming Windows 11 Moment update, internally referred to as the “February 2024 Moment,” is set to be finalized in early February, with rollout expected to commence a few weeks later. It’s anticipated that seekers will have access to the update starting February 27.
Similar to past Moment updates, Moment 5 will be delivered as a cumulative update via Windows Update, likely integrated into the March or April 2024 Patch Tuesday release following its availability as an optional preview update in late February. It’s important to note that Moment updates eventually become mandatory, meaning Windows Update will automatically install Moment 5 if not manually requested.
Moment 5 will be exclusively offered to users operating Windows 11 version 23H2 and version 22H2. Therefore, all active Windows 11 users on a supported version of the OS will receive the Moment 5 feature set. It’s expected that Moment 5 will be the final Moment update for Windows 11 users in 2024, as the next major Windows 11 OS update, version 24H2, is slated for later in the year.
